Time Out For Women
Sherah Reeves
I recently returned from a wonderful girls weekend away with my mum and sister in Sydney, where we attended the Time Out for Women event with 2000 other women. As if a well deserved two day 'time out' from my beautiful 5 children wasn't magical enough, but having the privilege of being surrounded by 2000 other fantastic women - all desiring to be better, to feel re-charged and all choosing to become a little closer to the women we are meant to be - was so exciting.
We were blessed to hear many inspirational messages and uplifting music, to enjoy a laugh, shed some tears and take lots of notes. My heart and mind was filled with love, hopes and ideas at the whole world of possibilities awaiting for me. Not only did I believe, but I felt, that anything is possible for every good women, which includes me.
I want to share with you one of the beautiful messages from an inspirational Mum and brilliant singer/song writer, Hillary Weeks, that touched my heart and inspired me.
She told us that she heard a statistic that women have, on average, over 300 negative thoughts each day! Feeling that this number was really high, she decided to test out this theory and bought herself a clicker/counter to record every negative thought that she had on a daily basis. She was amazed when she recorded over 100 and even got into the 200's. But what surprised her the most, was how exhausted and drained she was becoming. How she felt down and depressed, lonely and sad. But these feelings didn't make sense. Nothing had happened to impact on her like this. She wondered if her clicker might be the problem. She decided to change her experiment and start counting every positive thought that she had. The incredible thing was almost instantly she started to see things very differently. Her whole thought process changes and she began looking for things she was grateful instead of seeing negatives. She also recorded well in excess of 300 positive thoughts each day! This simple shift in thought also had huge impacts on her emotions. She reported feeling so much happiness and blessed, which in turn showed in her words and actions.
I love this quote from an unknown author:
"Watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Watch your words, for they become your actions. Watch your actions, for they become your habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."
It really is so true, what we think about and especially what we allow ourselves to dwell on, has such a huge impact on our lives. And as women, our influence is so far reaching.
I am really grateful for this 'time out', it has been a wonderful opportunity for me to make meaningful changes in my life, which is ultimately blessing my husband and my children. I loved that I didn't come away feeling like I had to do 'more' as a women, but more inspired to enjoy the moments.

My cousins, aunty, sister, niece, mum & me - 7 months pregnant.
